Hödl’s Hat Trick Powers Austria Salzburg to Cup Victory

FOUGERES, France (Interstat) — Marco Hödl scored three goals Saturday to lead Austria Salzburg to a 4-2 win over Telfs in an Austrian Cup of Cup match at Stade Charles Berthelot.

Hödl, a 5-foot-9 attacker, struck in the 54th, 57th and 71st minutes. Substitute Alexander Schwaighofer added a 67th-minute goal for the visitors. Telfs mounted a late rally with goals from Andre Pellegrini (76th) and Julius Perstaller (80th), but the comeback fell short.

The result defied pregame projections that heavily favored Telfs. The loss leaves Telfs with an 0-1 record in the competition, while Austria Salzburg improved to 1-2.
