Liefering vs First Vienna
Preview: Liefering Hosts First Vienna in Austrian 2. Liga Clash
GRÖDIG, Austria (Interstat) — Liefering is favored to extend its recent momentum when it hosts First Vienna FC in an Austrian 2. Liga match on Sunday.
The Week 4 contest kicks off at 2:30 p.m. local time at the Greisbergers Betten-Arena.
Liefering, the home side, enters with confidence after a 1-0 victory over Rapid Wien II in its last match on Dec. 12, 2025. That result snapped a two-game winless streak for the club, which is the reserve team for Austrian Bundesliga side FC Red Bull Salzburg. Its form has been inconsistent this season, featuring both a 5-2 rout of Kapfenberger SV and a 4-0 loss to FC Flyeralarm Admira.
First Vienna, the visiting side from the capital, arrives after a 2-2 draw with Floridsdorfer AC on Jan. 24. That result highlighted a pattern of draws for Vienna, which has finished level in four of its last eight league matches, including a 0-0 stalemate with Liefering in the reverse fixture last August.
The head-to-head history suggests a tight affair. The last meeting between these sides ended in a scoreless draw on Aug. 22, 2025.
Statistical models give Liefering a significant edge. Interstat’s ELO system projects a 62.5% probability of a Liefering victory. The same service’s game simulator predicts a 2-1 win for the hosts.
A key matchup will be Liefering’s attack, which has shown explosive potential, against a First Vienna defense that has struggled at times, conceding three goals in three separate matches this season. Vienna’s attack, however, has proven capable, with a 2-0 win over Sturm Graz among its results.
The match is the first of the spring phase for both clubs in the 2. Liga, Austria’s second division.
Following this match, First Vienna will next host St. Pölten on Feb. 20. Liefering’s next fixture is at home against S-W Bregenz on March 6.
Projected Lineups: Liefering: (4-3-3 formation) – Expected to feature several promising talents from the Red Bull academy system. First Vienna: (4-2-3-1 formation) – Likely to rely on a structured midfield to counter Liefering’s pace.
Injury reports for both clubs were not immediately available.
