Vechta at Frankfurt

FRANKFURT (Interstat) — Vechta will visit Frankfurt on Saturday for a German BBL matchup, with the visiting team carrying a 4-1 season record and the home side sitting at 0-1. The matchup is part of the German BBL schedule. Frankfurt’s most recent result was a 94-83 loss at Alba Berlin. Vechta’s latest outing ended in a 108-67 home loss to Bamberg. The game will pit Vechta’s strong start against a Frankfurt team still seeking its first win of the season.

Vechta has won four of its first five games. Those victories came against Dziki, Promitheas Patras, Benfica and Denizli Basket. Vechta beat Dziki 93-82, topped Promitheas Patras 103-73, defeated Benfica 98-88 and edged Denizli Basket 101-98. Vechta scored 93 points against Dziki, 103 against Promitheas Patras, 98 against Benfica and 101 against Denizli Basket. The team allowed 82, 73, 88 and 98 points in those four wins. The Bamberg loss interrupted that run and marked Vechta’s most recent result. Frankfurt opened its season with the loss at Alba Berlin and will look to bounce back at home.

Nelson Weidemann is a player to watch for Vechta. In his recent performances, Weidemann had 25 points, three rebounds, one assist and one block in 24 minutes against Dziki. He added nine points and four assists in 25 minutes against Promitheas Patras. Against Benfica, he finished with five points, one rebound and one assist in 16 minutes. He also posted seven points, three rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes against Denizli Basket. Weidemann’s scoring and playmaking could be important for Vechta as it looks to maintain its place among the early BBL leaders.

Frankfurt will aim to use home advantage against a Vechta side that has been productive on offense. Vechta’s four wins include three road victories and one home win. Frankfurt’s schedule has already included a road test at Alba Berlin, and the home matchup with Vechta offers a chance to settle into the season. Frankfurt will need to slow Weidemann and limit Vechta’s transition opportunities.

After Saturday, Vechta is scheduled to face Jena, Löwen Braunschweig, Spartak Subotica, Ulm, Cholet Basket, Trier, Hapoel Holon, Phoenix Hagen, Chemnitz and Hapoel Holon. Frankfurt’s upcoming opponents include Venezia, Phoenix Hagen, Šiauliai, Hamburg, London, Tenerife, Cluj-Napoca, Jena, Turk Telekom and Mitteldeutscher. Both teams will move quickly into a busy stretch of domestic and international play.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Frankfurt 85, Vechta 76. Interstat’s ELO system projects Vechta with an 89.3 percent probability to win. No point spread, betting line or over-under information was provided.
