Kutaisi vs. VSA

AP Sports Preview: Kutaisi at VSA

TBILISI, Georgia (Interstat) — Kutaisi visits VSA on Wednesday in a Georgian Super Liga matchup, seeking to extend its recent dominance over the home side. Kutaisi (18-12 overall) carries a three-game winning streak against VSA, while VSA (10-12) looks to snap a four-game skid in the series.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. local time.

Kutaisi enters on a five-game winning streak overall, last beating VSA 88-80 on Sunday. Detrek Browning, the team’s point guard, has been a driving force. In the past five games, Browning averaged 22.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 6.8 assists, including a 33-point, six-assist performance in the April 4 win at VSA. He also posted 29 points and six assists in Sunday’s victory.

For VSA, guard Luka Liklikadze has been the focal point. He scored 17 points with seven assists in Sunday’s loss and averaged 11.0 points and 6.2 assists over his last five outings. Center Tyson Jackson contributed 15 points and 13 rebounds in the most recent meeting.

The teams have split their season series 2-2, but Kutaisi has won the last three, including a 96-79 decision April 24. VSA’s lone win came in overtime, 102-100, on Dec. 21, 2025.

Kutaisi also features center Javion Ogunyemi, who posted 18 points and 11 rebounds Sunday, and forward Giorgi Sulaberidze (15 points, nine rebounds). VSA guard Terence Harcum added 15 points in that game.

Kutaisi’s balanced attack has helped it post a 66.2% win probability per Interstat’s ELO system. VSA, meanwhile, has lost four of its last five overall, with its only recent win coming April 18 at Tbilisi State.

The game is the fourth meeting between the two clubs in April and could have playoff implications as the regular season winds down.
