Chattanooga at Wofford
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to secure a winning season will meet when the Chattanooga Mocs visit the Wofford Terriers on Saturday at Gibbs Stadium.
Both teams enter the regular-season finale with identical 5-6 overall records. The game will be a final chance for each squad to finish the year at .500.
Chattanooga is looking to rebound from a lopsided 63-17 road loss to Mercer last Saturday. In that defeat, quarterback Battle Alberson passed for 138 yards and a touchdown, while the running game was led by Journey Wyche and Ryan Ingram. The Mocs’ season has been marked by inconsistency, with a four-game winning streak in October followed by two losses in their last three contests.
Wofford arrives with momentum after a narrow 16-14 victory over The Citadel. In that win, running back Gerald Modest was a standout, rushing for 99 yards and adding 30 receiving yards with a touchdown. The Terriers have found their footing in the second half of the season, winning four of their last five games after a 1-5 start.
According to a projection from Interstat, Wofford holds a slight edge, with the game simulator predicting a 30-23 victory for the home team. The matchup will feature Chattanooga’s offense against a surging Wofford defense that has allowed an average of just 15.6 points during its recent 4-1 stretch.
