Panthers Overwhelm Delta Devils in Lopsided Victory

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (Interstat) — The Prairie View A&M Panthers delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, November 22, 2025, overwhelming the visiting Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils at Panther Stadium.

From the opening kickoff, the Panthers controlled every facet of the game, building a commanding lead by halftime and cruising to a lopsided victory that improved their season record to nine wins and three losses. The Delta Devils, meanwhile, saw their difficult season continue, falling to one win and ten losses.

The tone was set early. After forcing a quick turnover on downs from Mississippi Valley State on the game’s opening possession, the Panthers’ offense needed just five plays to find the end zone. Quarterback Cameron Peters connected with tight end Travon Jones on a five-yard touchdown pass to cap the drive, giving Prairie View a lead it would never relinquish.

The Panthers’ defense and special teams compounded the Delta Devils’ struggles. Late in the first quarter, a muffed punt by Mississippi Valley State’s Shade Schaefer was recovered by Prairie View’s Danarius Hollywood, setting up a short field. Running back Chase Bingmon capitalized two plays later with a one-yard touchdown plunge, extending the lead.

The second quarter was an even greater display of Prairie View’s firepower. Bingmon broke free for a 25-yard touchdown run, and Peters added another score with a seven-yard scramble. The Panthers’ defense then delivered a decisive blow just before halftime. Linebacker Travor Randle intercepted a pass from Mississippi Valley State quarterback Brandon Nunez and returned it 33 yards for a touchdown, sending Prairie View into the locker room with a substantial advantage.

Any hope of a Delta Devils comeback was extinguished quickly in the third quarter. Peters, the Panthers’ starting quarterback from Missouri City, Texas, orchestrated another efficient drive, culminating in a 31-yard touchdown strike to wide receiver Jyzaiah Rockwell. Peters finished his day with an efficient stat line, completing 12 of 16 passes for 234 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 28 yards and another score.

The Panthers’ scoring barrage continued as running back Lamagea McDowell powered in for a six-yard touchdown. The special teams unit then provided one of the game’s most explosive plays, as wide receiver Andre Dennis took a handoff on an end-around and raced 51 yards for a touchdown, showcasing the depth of Prairie View’s offensive weapons.

Mississippi Valley State’s lone bright spot came late in the third quarter when Adonis Jackson returned a blocked punt for a touchdown, preventing a shutout.

With the game well in hand, Prairie View turned to its reserves in the fourth quarter. Backup quarterback Tevin Carter of Memphis, Tennessee, helped move the Panthers into field goal range, where Carlos Villagomez connected from 32 yards out to provide the final margin.

For Mississippi Valley State, the offensive struggles were pervasive. Quarterback Brandon Nunez of Phoenix, Arizona, completed nine of 18 passes for 80 yards and was intercepted once. The Delta Devils’ ground game managed only minimal gains against a stout Prairie View defense.

The victory was a comprehensive one for the Panthers, who far exceeded the projections of Interstat’s game simulator, which had predicted a 42-22 final score. The Panthers will look to carry this momentum into their regular-season finale on the road against Jackson State on Saturday, December 6. The Delta Devils will conclude their season at home against Florida A&M on Saturday, November 29.
