Jackson State at Alcorn State

LORMAN, Miss. (Interstat) — A surging Alcorn State team will look to continue its late-season push and challenge a dominant Jackson State squad when the rivals meet Saturday at Spinks-Casem Stadium.

The Braves (5-6) enter the contest on a four-game winning streak, most recently defeating Grambling 27-16 on Nov. 15. Quarterback Jaylon Tolbert has been a key to the turnaround, efficiently managing the offense, while running back Reggie Davis provides a potent scoring threat.

Jackson State (8-2) has been one of the season’s strongest teams, coming off a 28-13 victory over Bethune-Cookman. The Tigers’ offense boasts a powerful ground game, led by running backs Ahmad Miller and Donerio Davenport, who both eclipsed 100 yards rushing in their last outing.

Despite the disparity in overall records, the intrastate rivalry often produces unpredictable results. Jackson State’s two losses this season came against Grambling, a team Alcorn State just beat, and FBS opponent Southern Miss.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Alcorn State is projected to win 39-28, suggesting a high-scoring affair is in store.

Kickoff is set for Saturday in Lorman.
