Minnesota at Oregon
EUGENE, Ore. (Interstat) — In a commanding display at Autzen Stadium on Friday night, the Oregon Ducks overwhelmed the Minnesota Golden Gophers 42 to 13 in front of 58,830 fans.
Oregon quarterback Dante Moore orchestrated a near-flawless offensive performance, completing 27 of 30 passes for 306 yards and two touchdowns. His precision passing set the tone early and kept the Golden Gophers’ defense off-balance throughout the contest.
The Ducks established their dominance immediately, scoring touchdowns on their first two possessions. Running back Jordan Davison capped the opening drive with a 1-yard plunge, and then broke free for a 39-yard touchdown run later in the first quarter to give Oregon a 14 to 0 lead.
Minnesota, struggling to find offensive traction against a swarming Oregon defense, managed only a pair of field goals from Brady Denaburg in the second quarter, from 46 and 26 yards, to cut the deficit to 14 to 6.
The Ducks responded emphatically. Noah Whittington ripped off a 40-yard touchdown run, and just before halftime, Moore engineered a masterful drive, culminating in a 3-yard touchdown pass to tight end Kenyon Sadiq with 37 seconds remaining. The score sent Oregon into the break with a commanding 28 to 6 advantage.
The Golden Gophers showed a brief spark to open the second half, marching 80 yards on a methodical 11-play drive. Quarterback Drake Lindsey found Javon Tracy for a 10-yard touchdown pass, trimming the Oregon lead to 28 to 13.
Any hope of a Minnesota comeback was quickly extinguished as the Ducks answered with another scoring drive of their own. Moore connected with Jeremiah McClellan on a 13-yard touchdown pass, pushing the lead back to 35 to 13.
Oregon added a final touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 12-yard run by Jayden Harris to seal the 42 to 13 victory.
Lindsey finished the game for Minnesota with 134 passing yards and one touchdown, but the Golden Gophers’ offense was consistently stifled by the Oregon defense. Linebacker Teitum Tuioti and defensive back Brandon Finney Jr. each recorded a sack for the Ducks.
For Oregon, Sadiq was Moore’s primary target, hauling in eight receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown. Davison rushed for 57 yards and two scores, while Whittington added 72 yards on the ground and another touchdown.
The loss drops Minnesota to 6-4 on the season, while Oregon improves to 9-1. The Ducks will host Southern California next Saturday, while the Golden Gophers travel to face Northwestern.
