Southern Illinois at Youngstown State

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (Interstat) — A critical Missouri Valley Football Conference matchup is set for Saturday at Stambaugh Stadium as the Youngstown State Penguins host the Southern Illinois Salukis.

Both teams are looking to build momentum for a late-season push. The Salukis (6-3) enter on a high note after a decisive 27-7 road victory over Murray State last Saturday. Their offense, led by quarterback DJ Williams and running back Edward Robinson, has shown explosive potential. Williams accounted for three touchdowns and 258 total yards in the win, while Robinson rushed for 109 yards.

The Penguins (5-4) are looking to rebound from a tough 38-30 loss to North Dakota State. Despite the defeat, quarterback Beau Brungard was productive, throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for another in a 253-yard performance.

According to a Interstat game simulator, Youngstown State holds a slight edge, projected to win 36-28. The game could hinge on which team’s offense can find the most consistency against two defenses familiar with one another in a key conference clash.

Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 PM EST on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025.
