Richmond at Georgetown
WASHINGTON (Interstat) — A pair of teams riding opposite waves of momentum will meet Saturday when the Richmond Spiders visit the Georgetown Hoyas at Cooper Field.
Both teams enter the Nov. 8 contest with identical 5-4 records, but they are heading in different directions. Richmond is coming off a 17-14 home victory over Fordham, while Georgetown was shut out 41-0 on the road against Lehigh.
The Spiders have won two of their last three games, relying on a balanced offense. In the win over Fordham, quarterback Kyle Wickersham accounted for two touchdowns, passing for one and rushing for another. He was complemented by running back Aziz Foster-Powell, who tallied over 100 all-purpose yards, and receiver Isaiah Dawson, who had seven catches for 76 yards.
The Hoyas’ offense, however, was silenced last week. Quarterback Dez Thomas II passed for 168 yards but the team failed to put any points on the board, a stark contrast to their 31-point performance against Bucknell two weeks prior.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Georgetown is a narrow favorite, projected to win 26-24. The matchup could hinge on whether the Hoyas can rediscover their offensive form or if the Spiders’ recent resilience on both sides of the ball will prevail on the road.
