Maine at Hampton
HAMPTON, Va. (Interstat) — A surging Maine team riding a three-game winning streak visits a struggling Hampton squad looking to snap a three-game skid when the Black Bears and Pirates meet Saturday at Armstrong Stadium.
Maine (5-4) enters the contest off a 28-21 home victory over Stony Brook last Saturday. The Black Bears’ offense found balance in the win, with quarterback Carter Peevy accounting for three touchdowns and running back Sincere Baines rushing for 86 yards and a score.
Hampton (2-7) seeks to rebound from a 28-10 home loss to Monmouth on Oct. 25. Quarterback Braden Davis threw for 242 yards in the defeat, but the Pirates’ offense struggled to find the end zone.
Despite the disparity in records, Interstat’s game simulator projects a high-scoring affair with Hampton edging Maine, 37-32. The Black Bears will look to their ground game, led by Baines and Rashawn Marshall, to control the clock and secure a winning record.
The Pirates will aim to leverage their home-field advantage and exploit a Maine defense that has shown vulnerability during its up-and-down season.
