Montana State Routs Weber State in Dominant Home Victory
BOZEMAN, Mont. (Interstat) — On a cold Saturday in November, the Montana State Bobcats delivered a performance that far exceeded even the most optimistic of computer projections, dismantling the visiting Weber State Wildcats in a 66-14 rout at Bobcat Stadium.
The game, played on November 8, 2025, was never in doubt as the Bobcats scored early, often, and in every conceivable way, improving their record to 8-2 while sending the Wildcats to their seventh loss against three wins. Interstat’s game simulator had projected a final score of Montana State 42, Weber State 28, but the Bobcats surpassed that total by the third quarter, showcasing an offensive onslaught that Weber State had no answer for.
Montana State set the tone immediately, marching down the field on their second possession. Quarterback Justin Lamson, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound junior from El Dorado Hills, California, capped the drive with a 5-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter. The Wildcats briefly showed signs of life, with quarterback Kingston Tisdell connecting with receiver Marvin Session on a 22-yard pass to move into Bobcat territory, but the drive ultimately stalled.
The Bobcats responded with a breathtaking display of explosiveness. On the final play of the opening quarter, running back Julius Davis took a handoff and burst through the middle for a 52-yard touchdown sprint, tying the game at 14-14 as the period expired. Davis, from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, finished with a dominant stat line of 10 carries for 114 yards and two touchdowns.
The second quarter was where the floodgates truly opened and the game was decisively put out of reach for Weber State. The Bobcats scored 17 points in the frame, starting with a 2-yard touchdown run from Adam Jones. The Wildcats’ ensuing drive ended in disaster when Colter May fumbled after a 36-yard gain, with Montana State’s Neil Daily recovering the loose ball.
Weber State’s next possession ended even more abruptly, as Tisdell’s pass was intercepted by Caden Dowler, who returned it 54 yards to set up the Bobcats in the red zone. Lamson quickly capitalized, finding tight end Rocky Lencioni for a 4-yard touchdown pass, extending the lead to 28-14.
Weber State managed to find the end zone before halftime, with running back Spencer Ferguson plunging in from 4 yards out to cap a 12-play, 81-yard drive engineered by quarterback Dijon Jennings. But any momentum the Wildcats gained was instantly erased on the ensuing kickoff. Jabez Woods fielded the ball and exploded for a 77-yard return, setting up the Bobcats for a 48-yard field goal by Myles Sansted as time expired in the half, sending Montana State into the locker room with a commanding 31-14 lead.
Any hope of a Weber State comeback was extinguished in a dominant third quarter where the Bobcats piled on 21 more points. Lamson connected with Ryan King on a 9-yard touchdown pass, and Davis added his second scoring run of the day from a yard out. Lamson then put an exclamation point on his day with a 12-yard touchdown run, his second of the game, making the score 52-14. Lamson finished an efficient day, completing 12 of 16 passes for 117 yards and two touchdowns through the air, while adding 31 yards and two more scores on the ground.
With the game well in hand, Montana State turned to its reserves in the fourth quarter, and they continued the offensive showcase. Backup quarterback Patrick Duchien, a hometown product from Florence, Montana, launched a 25-yard touchdown strike to Jordan Reed. Later, third-string quarterback Chance Wilson from Owasso, Oklahoma, scrambled for a 15-yard touchdown to finalize the 66-14 margin.
Weber State’s offense, outside of its lone first-half touchdown drive, was consistently stymied by a relentless Montana State defense that recorded two interceptions and multiple sacks. Spencer Ferguson was a workhorse for the Wildcats, carrying the ball 22 times for 88 yards and a touchdown, while Marvin Session caught five passes for 65 yards. The quarterback duo of Tisdell and Jennings combined for 107 passing yards but could not sustain drives against the Bobcats’ pressure.
The victory sets up a crucial final stretch for Montana State, which will host UC Davis next Saturday before the annual Brawl of the Wild against rival Montana on November 22. Weber State, mired in a difficult season, will look to regroup on the road at Idaho State next Saturday.
