Ohio State at Purdue
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Interstat) — The Ohio State Buckeyes, riding a wave of dominant victories, hit the road to face the struggling Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium.
Ohio State (8-0) is coming off a statement win, dismantling then-Penn State 38-14 last Saturday. Quarterback Julian Sayin was nearly flawless, completing 20 of 23 passes for 316 yards and four touchdowns, while adding two rushing scores. The Buckeye defense has been equally formidable, posting two shutouts in its last three games and allowing an average of just 7.5 points over its last four contests.
Purdue (2-7) has shown recent fight, losing a close 21-16 game at Michigan last week. Quarterback Ryan Browne was efficient, completing 19 of 24 passes for 133 yards and a touchdown in the losing effort. Despite the competitive showing, the Boilermakers have lost seven of their last eight games.
The historical “Spoilermaker” narrative, where Purdue has famously upset top-five Ohio State teams in West Lafayette, looms over this matchup. However, the teams are on vastly different trajectories this season. According to Interstat, Ohio State is projected to win 33-20. Oddsmakers list the Buckeyes as 30.5-point favorites with an over/under of 48.5.
Ohio State will look to maintain its perfect season before a pivotal closing stretch that includes a showdown at Michigan. Purdue seeks a program-defining upset as it looks to build momentum for its final two games.
