Fordham at Richmond
RICHMOND, Va. (Interstat) — The Richmond Spiders, seeking to get back to .500, are heavily favored to defeat the struggling Fordham Rams when the teams meet Saturday at Robins Stadium.
Richmond (4-4) returns from a bye week following a 28-22 home loss to Holy Cross on Oct. 18. In that game, quarterback Kyle Wickersham threw for 218 yards and a touchdown while adding 80 rushing yards. Running back Aziz Foster-Powell also rushed for 80 yards and a score.
Fordham (1-7) enters on a three-game losing streak, including a 27-6 home defeat to Lehigh last Saturday. Rams quarterback Gunnar Smith passed for 203 yards and a touchdown in the loss but the offense managed just six points.
The Spiders have been inconsistent but have shown an ability to win close games, edging Howard 13-12 and Colgate 24-19 earlier this season. The Rams’ lone victory was a 26-21 win over Holy Cross on Sept. 27, but they have been outscored by an average of more than 18 points per game in their seven losses.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 34-27 victory for the home team. A win would put Richmond above .500 for the first time this season, while Fordham looks to snap its skid and find a spark on the road.
