Texas A&M at LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. (Interstat) — An undefeated Texas A&M squad faces its toughest test yet when the sixth-ranked Aggies visit LSU in a pivotal SEC West clash Saturday at Tiger Stadium.

The Aggies (6-0) are one of the nation’s last remaining unbeatens, but they are coming off a narrow 45-42 victory over Arkansas where their defense was tested. Quarterback Marcel Reed was dynamic in the win, accounting for four total touchdowns, while running backs Rueben Owens II and EJ Smith provided a potent ground attack.

LSU (5-1) looks to rebound after a surprising 31-24 road loss to Vanderbilt snapped its five-game winning streak. The Tigers’ offense, led by quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, will need to be more consistent against an Aggies team that has found ways to win close games, including a 41-40 victory at Notre Dame in September.

Despite the records, LSU has been installed as a 2.5-point favorite by oddsmakers. The Interstat game simulator projects a 28-20 victory for the Tigers. The over/under is set at 49.5.

The game could hinge on whether Texas A&M’s defense can contain an LSU rushing attack featuring Caden Durham and Harlem Berry, and if the Aggies’ perfect season can survive the notoriously hostile environment of Death Valley at night.
