Northern Colorado at Sacramento State
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Interstat) — Two teams riding the momentum of high-scoring victories will meet when Sacramento State hosts Northern Colorado on Saturday at Hornet Stadium.
Both the Hornets and Bears enter the contest with identical 2-3 overall records. Sacramento State is coming off a 55-27 road rout of Weber State last Saturday, powered by a dominant ground game. Quarterback Cardell Williams rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns, while running back Jaquail Smith added 135 yards and two scores.
Northern Colorado, meanwhile, is fresh off a 49-33 win at Idaho. Bears quarterback Eric Gibson Jr. was prolific in the victory, throwing for 350 yards and two touchdowns while adding another three scores on the ground. Wide receiver Brayden Munroe was his top target, hauling in five receptions for 151 yards and a touchdown.
The game features two offenses that found their rhythm last week, setting the stage for a potential shootout. Interstat’s game simulator projects a high-scoring affair, favoring Sacramento State 42-29.
The matchup is the first of a tough back-to-back for the Hornets, who host Montana the following Friday. Northern Colorado returns home to face UC Davis on Oct. 25.
