Coastal Carolina at Appalachian State

BOONE, N.C. (Interstat) — A pivotal Sun Belt Conference East Division clash is set for Saturday at Kidd Brewer Stadium as the Appalachian State Mountaineers host the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.

Appalachian State (3-2) enters the contest riding the momentum of a 41-20 road victory over Georgia State. Quarterback JJ Kohl powered the offense, throwing for 309 yards and four touchdowns.

Coastal Carolina (2-3) snapped a two-game skid with a 23-8 win over Louisiana-Monroe, a game where quarterback Samari Collier rushed for 86 yards and a score.

Despite the Chanticleers’ sub-.500 record, they have been installed as 10.5-point favorites. The over/under is set at 48.5. A projection from Interstat, however, forecasts a high-scoring affair with Appalachian State winning 42-33.

The game will be a test of strengths, with Appalachian State’s potent passing attack facing a Coastal Carolina team finding its footing after a shutout loss to East Carolina earlier in the season. The Mountaineers look to protect their home field, while the Chanticleers aim to build a winning streak.
