North Carolina Central dominates Florida A&M in lopsided road victory
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Interstat) — In a stunning reversal of pregame expectations, the North Carolina Central Eagles delivered a commanding performance, dismantling the Florida A&M Rattlers 45-7 in a non-conference football game on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Bragg Memorial Stadium.
The Eagles, who entered the contest as 13-point underdogs according to oddsmakers, dominated from the opening whistle, amassing 518 total yards of offense while their defense forced four turnovers. The lopsided result defied projections from Interstat, which had given the Eagles a 64 percent probability to win but had simulated a narrow 35-33 victory.
North Carolina Central quarterback Walker Harris, a 6-foot, 180-pound junior from Rolesville, North Carolina, orchestrated the offensive onslaught with precision. He completed 21 of 27 passes for 278 yards and two touchdowns, adding another score on the ground as part of his 30 rushing yards on eight carries.
The Eagles set the tone early, marching 86 yards on their opening drive, capped by a 13-yard touchdown pass from Harris to tight end Rodney Lesane. The first quarter ended with North Carolina Central leading 7-0, but the floodgates opened in the second.
The Eagles exploded for 21 points in the period, turning the game into a rout. The defensive unit provided the initial spark when defensive back Eric Adams intercepted a Jett Peddy pass and returned it 33 yards for a touchdown. Adams, from Ronda, North Carolina, also broke up a key pass later in the game.
Harris then engineered two more scoring drives before halftime. He connected with wide receiver Refeno Vangates on a 4-yard touchdown pass, and with just 10 seconds remaining in the half, running back Arthur Rodgers Jr. plunged into the end zone from a yard out to give the Eagles a commanding 28-0 lead at the break.
The Rattlers’ lone bright spot came on their first possession of the third quarter. A sustained drive, fueled in part by a 27-yard completion from Peddy to running back Thad Franklin Jr., culminated in a 1-yard touchdown run by Franklin Jr. The score from the West Park, Florida, native briefly cut the deficit to 28-7.
North Carolina Central responded immediately, quashing any hope of a Florida A&M comeback. Harris led the Eagles on an answering drive, which he finished himself with a 4-yard touchdown run to re-establish a four-score lead at 35-7.
The Eagles added 10 more points in the fourth quarter. Running back Chris Mosley broke free for a spectacular 50-yard touchdown run, his second score of the day, to put an exclamation point on the victory. Kicker Kaleb Robison of Middleburg, Florida, later added a 38-yard field goal to complete the scoring.
Mosley was a workhorse for the Eagles, carrying the ball 23 times for 131 yards and a touchdown, while also catching two passes for 18 yards. Chance Peterson was Harris’s primary target, hauling in eight receptions for 104 yards.
For Florida A&M, the offensive struggles were pervasive. Starting quarterback Jett Peddy, a 6-2, 191-pound junior from Torrance, California, completed just 11 of 26 passes for 154 yards and threw three interceptions before being relieved. The Rattlers’ ground game was led by Thad Franklin Jr., who rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown on nine carries and caught two passes for 34 yards.
The Eagles’ defense was relentless, recording three interceptions and multiple sacks. Along with Adams’ pick-six, Christian Smith and Jelani Vassell also came away with interceptions.
With the victory, North Carolina Central improves its season record to 4-2. The Eagles will next host Delaware State on Saturday, October 25. Florida A&M falls to 1-3 and will look to regroup when they host Alcorn State on Saturday, October 18. The total score of 52 points fell just under the over/under line of 53.5.
