Alabama State at Jackson State

JACKSON, Miss. (Interstat) — A pivotal Southwestern Athletic Conference East Division showdown is set for Saturday at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium as the Jackson State Tigers host the Alabama State Hornets.

Both teams enter the contest with identical 4-1 overall records, setting the stage for a high-stakes midseason clash.

The game features two of the conference’s most explosive offenses. Alabama State is riding a four-game winning streak, fueled by a 52-35 victory over Bethune-Cookman last week. The Hornets’ offense is a multi-faceted threat, led by quarterback Andrew Body, who threw for 171 yards and rushed for 95 more in the win. Running backs Jahbari Kuykendall and Marcus Harris II provide a potent ground attack.

Jackson State is equally formidable, coming off a 57-24 rout of Alabama A&M. Tigers quarterback JaCobian Morgan orchestrated the blowout, accounting for five total touchdowns, including 314 yards through the air and 120 on the ground. The backfield duo of Travis Terrell Jr. and Donerio Davenport adds another layer of dynamism.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Jackson State holds the edge with a projected final score of 36-24. The Tigers’ lone loss came on the road to FBS opponent Southern Miss, while Alabama State’s only defeat was a 52-42 shootout at UAB to open the season.

Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025.
