Michigan at Southern California
LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — A pivotal nonconference clash is set for the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday as the Michigan Wolverines face the Southern California Trojans, with both teams carrying 4-1 records and potent offenses into the marquee matchup.
The Wolverines are riding high after a 24-10 victory over Wisconsin last Saturday. Quarterback Bryce Underwood was efficient, throwing for 270 yards and a touchdown, while the backfield tandem of Justice Haynes (117 rushing yards, 2 TDs) and Jordan Marshall provided a balanced attack. Michigan’s lone blemish is a 24-13 road loss to Oklahoma in early September.
Southern California looks to rebound from its first loss, a 34-32 defeat at Illinois on Sept. 27. The Trojans’ offense, led by quarterback Jayden Maiava, who threw for 364 yards and two touchdowns in the loss, has been explosive, averaging over 48 points per game in their four victories. Running back Waymond Jordan has been a dual-threat, scoring two rushing touchdowns against the Fighting Illini.
Despite Michigan being a 2.5-point favorite, the Interstat game simulator projects a narrow 25-23 victory for the home-standing Trojans. The over/under is set at 57.5.
The game features a contrast in styles, with Michigan’s powerful ground game and stout defense tested by USC’s high-octane passing attack in a contest that could have significant implications for the College Football Playoff landscape.
