Northwestern at Penn State

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (Interstat) — Two teams with identical records but divergent recent fortunes will meet Saturday when the Northwestern Wildcats visit the Penn State Nittany Lions at Beaver Stadium.

Both teams enter the Oct. 11 contest at 3-2. Northwestern is riding a three-game winning streak, including a dominant 42-7 victory over Louisiana-Monroe last Saturday. Quarterback Preston Stone powered that win, accounting for three touchdowns and 311 total yards.

Conversely, Penn State looks to rebound from a tough 42-37 road loss to UCLA. Despite the defeat, quarterback Drew Allar and running backs Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton provided a potent offensive effort in the shootout.

The matchup pits Northwestern’s momentum against a Penn State team hungry to defend its home field after two narrow losses to ranked opponents, UCLA and Oregon. The Nittany Lions’ two defeats have come by a combined 11 points.

According to Interstat, Penn State is a heavy favorite, projected to win 40-14. Betting markets list the Nittany Lions as 21.5-point favorites with an over/under of 48.5 points.

The game kicks off at noon EDT. Penn State travels to Iowa next week, while Northwestern hosts Purdue.
