Brown Bears defeat Columbia Lions 4‑2 in Ivy League final

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (Interstat) — Brown defeated Columbia 4-2 in the Ivy League Championship on Sunday afternoon, May 17, 2026. The Bears improved to 23-20, while the Lions fell to 15-24-1.

Brown struck first in the bottom of the first inning. Mark Henshon walked with the bases loaded, forcing in a run. The Bears added three more in the sixth. Christian Butera singled to right field, driving in two runs, and Brandon Chang added a sacrifice bunt groundout for another RBI.

Columbia mounted a late rally in the top of the ninth. Hunter Snyder singled to center field, scoring one run, and Tate Vogler reached on a fielder’s choice for another, but the Lions could get no closer. Brown’s pitching held Columbia to seven hits, while the Bears managed five hits of their own.

Drew Nelson of Brown and Will Harrigan of Columbia were among the pitchers, though complete stat lines were unavailable. The win avenged a 16-8 loss to Columbia earlier in the season and gave Brown the Ivy League title.
