Saturday, May 16, 2026 · Final · SEC Playoffs Game 3 (TENN wins 2-1)

Tennessee at Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. (Interstat) — The Southeastern Conference series between Tennessee and Oklahoma shifts to a Saturday afternoon contest at the Sooners’ home stadium, with first place in the league standings potentially on the line. The Volunteers (36-18) own a 2-0 series edge after a 9-7 win Thursday and a rainout Friday that will be made up as part of a doubleheader. The Sooners (31-19) are trying to avoid a sweep.

Tennessee’s Tegan Kuhns is expected to start after a mixed recent stretch. The right-hander earned a win Thursday against Oklahoma, allowing four earned runs in five innings despite not giving up a hit (0 H, 4 ER, 5 K). He followed a dominant seven-inning, 15-strikeout shutout of Texas on May 8. However, he was tagged for six earned runs in a loss at Kentucky on May 1. Kuhns has 10 or more strikeouts in three of his last five starts.

Oklahoma counter with Isaac Williams, who has struggled this month. The right-hander worked 2 2/3 scoreless, hitless innings in Thursday’s loss (0 H, 0 ER, 3 K). But in his previous two outings, he allowed three earned runs in a combined 2 2/3 innings against Florida and Arkansas. Williams will need to find consistency against a Volunteer lineup that produced 14 hits in Thursday’s series opener.

Levi Clark provided the key hit in that game, a solo home run and two RBIs, while Bo Rhudy pitched 1 1/3 hitless innings for the win. For Oklahoma, center fielder Jason Walk went 2-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs, and second baseman Kyle Branch also homered and drove in two.

Saturday’s forecast is expected to be mild, though no precise temperature was available. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-3 Tennessee victory, and the ELO system gives the Volunteers a 60.2 percent probability of winning.

Tennessee enters on a two-game winning streak after Thursday’s win and a midweek rout of Belmont. The Volunteers have won three of their last five overall. Oklahoma has dropped three of four, including a series loss at Arkansas last weekend.

First pitch is scheduled for the afternoon, with the second game of the doubleheader to follow in the evening. Both games are critical for SEC seeding with the postseason approaching.
