LEWISBURG, Pa. (Interstat) — The Navy Midshipmen (30-18) will look to avenge a lopsided loss when they face the Bucknell Bison (25-22) in a Monday evening clash at the Bison Baseball Complex.
The game follows a 16-4 defeat Sunday in which Bucknell pounded 18 hits. The Midshipmen have dropped three of their last five, while the Bison have won two straight.
Navy center fielder John Hooten was a bright spot Sunday, going 1 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs. Hooten owns a .679 slugging percentage in his last five games and is 3 for 9 with two homers against Bucknell this season.
Bucknell right-hander Jake Schultz (4-1) is scheduled to start. In Sunday’s win, he allowed three runs (three earned) on eight hits over six innings with three strikeouts. He also fired a six-inning, no-hit shutout against Lehigh on May 2, striking out six.
The teams have split their last six meetings, 3-3, including a 13-inning marathon won by Bucknell 5-4 on April 27.
The Interstat sports simulator projects a 6-5 Navy victory.
Bucknell will host Navy again Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the series finale.
