Navy Routs Holy Cross in Patriot League Doubleheader Opener
WORCESTER, Mass. (Interstat) — Tyler Grenn and Jackson Clark combined on a four-hit shutout over nine innings Friday as Navy opened a Patriot League doubleheader with a 10-4 win over Holy Cross.
The Midshipmen (24-14) scored early and often, with Tyler Cripe hitting a leadoff homer in the first inning and finishing 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Patrick Walsh added a two-run homer in the seventh.
Grenn, Navy’s top star, earned the win with six dominant innings, allowing two earned runs while striking out seven. Clark provided three innings of relief, allowing one run and fanning five.
Ryan Grundy drove in three runs for the Crusaders (16-21), including a two-run homer in the first. The result defied national projections favoring Holy Cross. The teams resumed their series with the second game of the twin bill.
