Fairleigh Dickinson Looks to Rebound Against Fordham in High-Scoring Series Finale

BRONX, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Fairleigh Dickinson Knights and Fordham Rams will conclude a high-scoring, two-game midweek series Wednesday evening at Houlihan Park, one afternoon after combining for 40 runs and 40 hits.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Knights (21-13) will aim to avenge Tuesday’s 23-17 shootout loss, a game that saw both offenses explode. Fairleigh Dickinson has lost three of its last four but remains eight games above .500.

Fordham (15-21), which snapped a five-game losing streak with Tuesday’s victory, will look to build momentum and even the season series.

A marquee individual matchup will feature two of the hottest hitters from the series opener. Fairleigh Dickinson right fielder Hunter Ray, a key player to watch, went 3 for 5 with two home runs and five RBIs in the loss. Over his last 10 games, Ray is batting .333 with six home runs and 17 RBIs.

He will be countered by Fordham shortstop Anthony Grabau, who was perfect at the plate Tuesday, going 4 for 4 with a home run and five RBIs. Grabau is batting .357 over his last 10 contests.

Despite Tuesday’s result, Interstat’s game simulator projects a reversal of fortune, favoring Fairleigh Dickinson by a score of 7-3.

The Knights’ recent schedule has been a rollercoaster, featuring a three-game sweep of Maryland-Eastern Shore followed by a 1-3 stretch against Stonehill and Iona before Tuesday’s wild loss.

Fordham had struggled prior to Tuesday, having lost seven of its previous eight games, including a three-game sweep at the hands of VCU last weekend.

Following Wednesday’s game, Fairleigh Dickinson begins a three-game series at Le Moyne on Friday. Fordham opens Atlantic 10 Conference play at La Salle on Friday.
