Huskies Edge Seawolves in 13-Inning Colonial Athletic Marathon
STONY BROOK, N.Y. (Interstat) — Anthony Ruggiero’s second-inning home run and a 13th-inning sacrifice fly by Mikey Aschettino lifted Northeastern to a 4-3 victory over Stony Brook in Colonial Athletic Association baseball Saturday.
The Huskies (5-6) squandered a four-run lead as the Seawolves (1-11) scored twice in the ninth to force extra innings. Northeastern’s Luc Rising starred with six no-hit innings, allowing one earned run and striking out nine. Stony Brook’s Dylan Henshaw, John Rizzo and Hunter Colagrande combined for 12 2/3 innings of relief.
Ruggiero’s solo shot opened the scoring. Nicholas Dromboski answered for Stony Brook with a homer in the bottom half. The Huskies added two in the fourth before Stony Brook’s late rally. Aschettino’s fly ball in the 13th scored Jack Bentley with the decisive run.
