Robinson’s No-Hit Start Powers Retrievers Past Quakers in Opener

PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — Zach Robinson threw seven no-hit innings to lead the Maryland-Baltimore County Retrievers to a 4-1 victory over the Penn Quakers in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

Robinson struck out seven and walked none, dominating Penn batters before handing the ball to the bullpen. The Retrievers scored all their runs in the middle innings off Penn starter Marty Coyne, who allowed three runs over 6 2/3 innings. Dylan Melton and Derek Paris each drove in a run for UMBC.

Penn avoided the shutout when Gavin Degnan hit an RBI double in the eighth inning off reliever Sergio Droz. The Retrievers improved to 4-5, while the Quakers fell to 1-7.
