Gallant, Buccaneers Dominate Panthers in Doubleheader Opener

DECATUR, Ga. (Interstat) — Matt Gallant fired five no-hit innings and Charleston Southern’s offense erupted in the middle frames to rout Georgia State 9-1 in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday at Georgia State Baseball Complex.

The Buccaneers (12-3) broke open a scoreless game with a four-run fourth inning, highlighted by Ethan Reader’s two-run single. They added four more in the fifth, with Tyler Wright delivering another two-run hit. Gallant earned the win, allowing one unearned run with three strikeouts before Aydan Smith completed two perfect innings of relief.

Austin Sellers’ RBI single in the fifth accounted for the lone run for the Panthers (10-7), who managed six hits. The loss followed a defeat to the Buccaneers on Friday.
