Charleston Southern at Georgia State

Preview: Charleston Southern at Georgia State (Game 1 of Doubleheader)

ATLANTA (Interstat) — The Charleston Southern Buccaneers look to continue their hot start and secure a series win when they visit the Georgia State Panthers on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader.

First pitch is set for March 7, 2026, at the GSU Baseball Complex. The Buccaneers (11-2) dominated the series opener Friday, winning 15-7 behind a potent offensive display. The Panthers (9-6) will seek to even the series and halt a two-game skid.

Charleston Southern has won 10 of its last 12 games, with its only losses in that span a one-run defeat to UNC Wilmington and a road loss at South Carolina. Third baseman Blake Edgmon has been a key contributor. He went 2 for 4 with three RBIs in Friday’s win over Georgia State and is batting .500 (6 for 12) with nine RBIs over his last three games with multiple hits.

Georgia State, after a strong opening two weeks, has dropped four of its last six contests. Third baseman Carter Bailey provided a bright spot in Friday’s loss, hitting a two-run home run as part of a 2-for-4 effort. He will be counted on to help spark a Panthers lineup that managed just one run in its previous game, a 4-1 loss to Georgia Tech on Tuesday.

The pitching matchup for Saturday’s opener was not announced. In Friday’s game, Charleston Southern’s Jack Bunnell earned the win with four innings of relief, while Georgia State’s Titus von Kapff took the loss.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Charleston Southern 8, Georgia State 6.

Following the doubleheader, Charleston Southern travels to face UNC Wilmington on Tuesday. Georgia State will host Mercer on Tuesday before opening Sun Belt Conference play at Marshall next weekend.
