Morehead State at Northern Kentucky

Preview: Morehead State Eagles at Northern Kentucky Norse

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to steady their early seasons will meet Wednesday when the Morehead State Eagles visit the Northern Kentucky Norse.

Both clubs enter the non-conference matchup with identical 3-4 records. The game is scheduled for an evening first pitch.

The Eagles aim to snap a three-game skid after dropping a weekend series at Winthrop. Their most recent loss was a 4-3 defeat Sunday. Third baseman Aubrey Kearns has been a bright spot, providing power in the middle of the order. In that Sunday game, he went 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs. Over his last three games, Kearns is 6 for 12 (.500).

Morehead State’s last victory was an 8-6 road win at Kentucky on Feb. 17.

The Norse, meanwhile, come in with momentum after an 8-5 win at Alabama A&M on Sunday. Pitcher Eli Green was dominant in that victory, throwing five hitless and scoreless innings in relief, striking out three. The bullpen combination of Jared Teke and Gabe Stout also provided scoreless relief to secure the win.

Northern Kentucky has shown resilience, following a 10-3 loss at New Orleans on Saturday with Sunday’s road victory.

According to Interstat projections, the game is expected to be tight. Their game simulator predicts a 5-4 Morehead State victory, while their ELO rating system gives Northern Kentucky a slight edge with a 51.7% probability to win.

Following this midweek contest, both teams will prepare for three-game weekend series. Morehead State travels to face Southern University, while Northern Kentucky hosts Eastern Illinois.
