College of Charleston Edges Coastal Carolina in Non-Conference Baseball
CONWAY, S.C. (Interstat) — College of Charleston held off Coastal Carolina 4-3 in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday afternoon at Springs Brooks Stadium. The visiting Cougars improved to 2-3, while the Chanticleers fell to 3-1 despite being heavy favorites with a 72.6% win probability.
Coastal Carolina scored first on an RBI double by Mihos in the second inning, but College of Charleston responded with four unanswered runs. The Cougars capitalized on a key fielding error to plate a run in the fifth, then added insurance with an RBI single from Holbrook in the seventh and a sacrifice fly by Berini in the eighth. The Chanticleers rallied for an unearned run in the seventh and threatened again late, but the Cougars’ bullpen sealed the one-run victory. College of Charleston finished with eight hits to Coastal Carolina’s nine.
