Texas Longhorns overpower Vanderbilt Commodores 11‑4

NASHVILLE (Interstat) — Texas starter Dylan Volantis struck out 11 and allowed just one earned run over six innings as the Longhorns defeated Vanderbilt 11-4 on Friday night at Ken Dugan Field at Stephen Lee Marsh Stadium.

Volantis, who tossed six hitless frames before exiting, improved his recent run with a dominant performance. Aiden Robbins led the Texas offense with two home runs and three RBIs, including a solo shot in the third inning and a two-run blast in the fourth. Adrian Rodriguez added a solo homer and a run-scoring single, finishing 3 for 4 with three RBIs. Josh Livingston also went deep for the Longhorns, driving in three runs with a fifth-inning homer.

Texas built an 11-0 lead through six innings. Vanderbilt scored four runs in the sixth and seventh innings, highlighted by Mike Mancini’s solo homer and a two-run blast from Reynolds. But the Commodores could not overcome the early deficit.

Texas now owns a 31-8 record. Vanderbilt falls to 25-18. The teams meet again Saturday in the second game of the Southeastern Conference series.
