Skyhawks Ride Early Offense, Stellar Bullpen to Blowout Win Over Minutemen

AMHERST, Mass. (Interstat) — The Stonehill Skyhawks erupted for eight early runs and five relievers combined for 7 2/3 scoreless innings in a 12-5 victory over the Massachusetts Minutemen on Wednesday evening at Earl Lorden Field.

Stonehill (15-20) sent 11 men to the plate during a six-run third inning and added four more in the fourth, building a commanding 12-0 lead. Sam Parks drove in four runs for the Skyhawks, while John Bureau added a solo home run in the ninth.

After Massachusetts (12-21) scored five runs in the second and fourth innings, the Stonehill bullpen silenced the rally. Hunter Bell, the top star, led the effort with three perfect innings of relief. Anthony Tirado had three RBIs for the Minutemen, who were projected by a national simulator to win 6-4.
