Cornell at Penn
PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — The Penn Quakers, riding momentum from a decisive midweek win, are favored to open an Ivy League doubleheader against the struggling Cornell Big Red on Saturday at Hank DeVincent Field.
First pitch for Game 1 is set for Saturday, April 11, 2026, under cloudy skies with temperatures near 67 degrees.
Penn (10-15) enters having won three of its last four, including a 13-3 rout of Lafayette on Tuesday where second baseman Ryan Taylor went 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Taylor, a key player to watch, is batting .300 (6-for-20) with seven RBIs over his last five games.
Cornell (6-17) seeks consistency after splitting a two-game set with Dartmouth last weekend. The Big Red snapped a four-game skid with a 4-2 win on April 4, fueled by a strong combined pitching effort from Ethan Hamill and John Hegarty and three hits from DH Owen Carlson.
A player to watch for Cornell is pitcher Michael Tight, though his recent outings have been uneven. Over his last five appearances, he has allowed 10 earned runs in 7 1/3 innings, but also turned in 1 2/3 scoreless innings at VMI on March 14.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a narrow 5-4 victory for the Quakers, with its ELO rating system giving Penn a 71.2% probability to win.
The Quakers took two of three from Dartmouth to open Ivy play last month, while Cornell dropped two of three to Harvard. Following Saturday’s doubleheader, the teams conclude the series Sunday.
