Central Michigan at Bowling Green
Rain Expected as Bowling Green Hosts Central Michigan in MAC Series
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (Interstat) — A wet Mid-American Conference matchup is on tap Saturday as the Bowling Green Falcons host the Central Michigan Chippewas at Warren E. Steller Field.
First pitch is scheduled for the afternoon, though evening weather could impact play with a forecast of 60 degrees and rain.
The Falcons (11-14) enter with momentum from a 9-3 road win at Ohio State on Tuesday. Bowling Green took the series opener against Central Michigan (10-17) on Friday, winning 1-0.
A key player for the Falcons is reliever Ty Roder, who was dominant against the Buckeyes, throwing 3 2/3 hitless innings with six strikeouts. Over his last five appearances, Roder has allowed just three hits and two earned runs in 11 innings, fanning 11 batters.
Central Michigan looks to even the series, seeking to snap a four-game skid. The Chippewas fell 4-6 at Michigan on Tuesday despite strong bullpen work. Reliever Jack Griffiths, a player to watch for Central Michigan, threw three perfect innings with a strikeout in that loss. His recent outings have been inconsistent, including a tough five-run stint against Eastern Michigan on March 29.
The Chippewas’ offense will need to rebound after being shut out Friday. They have lost 10 of their last 13 games.
Bowling Green has won four of its last six, including a series sweep of Akron last weekend.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Bowling Green 5, Central Michigan 3.
The three-game MAC series concludes Sunday afternoon at Steller Field.
