UCLA Bruins edge Washington Huskies 6‑5 in Seattle thriller

SEATTLE (Interstat) — Payton Brennan and the UCLA Bruins rallied Friday for a 6-5 victory over the Washington Huskies at Husky Ballpark in a Big Ten matchup.

UCLA, which improved to 47-6, took an early lead but Washington answered in the second inning when Casen Taggart tripled to left field, driving in two runs. The Huskies added another in the third on a double by Mic Paul. UCLA regained control in the sixth inning when Aiden Aguayo homered to left, scoring Will Gasparino.

Washington tied the game in the seventh on a two-run homer by Jackson Hotchkiss. The Bruins broke the deadlock in the eighth when Jarrod Hocking singled up the middle, plating Cashel Dugger and Aguayo. UCLA added two more runs in the ninth on a double by Dugger, which brought home Phoenix Call and Gasparino.

Washington, now 22-30, managed 10 hits to UCLA’s seven but could not overcome the Bruins’ late offense. The teams meet again Saturday.
