MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (Interstat) — The College of Charleston Cougars host the William & Mary Tribe on Friday at 6 p.m. at CofC Baseball Stadium at Patriot’s Point in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup. The forecast calls for clear skies and 80 degrees.
The Cougars enter with a 26-26 overall record, while the Tribe are 21-30.
College of Charleston took the series opener Thursday, 9-2. Over his last three outings, Harrington has 15 innings, 2 earned runs and 11 strikeouts, including a 7-inning, 2-run effort at UNC Wilmington on May 1.
William & Mary counters with right-hander Jack Weight. In Thursday’s loss, he worked 5.1 innings, gave up no hits but 3 earned runs and struck out 4. Weight has been erratic lately, allowing 8 earned runs over his previous 8.2 innings across three appearances. However, on April 24 at North Carolina A&T, he threw 5.1 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts.
The series has been competitive. The Cougars won 4-0 on April 19 and 16-10 on April 17, while the Tribe took a 7-5 decision April 18. Overall, College of Charleston has won four of the last five meetings.
William & Mary has lost five of its last six games overall. The Tribe dropped 14-9 at Duke on Tuesday and were swept at home by Towson last weekend. College of Charleston split its last two midweek games, losing 9-5 at Georgia Southern on Tuesday after sweeping Elon last weekend.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 College of Charleston victory, and its ELO system gives the Cougars a 72.3% chance to win.
Both teams will play again Saturday in the series finale.
