DAVIDSON, N.C. (Interstat) — Jack Hopko homered twice and drove in five runs to lift Rhode Island to a 17-7 Atlantic 10 victory over Davidson on Saturday afternoon at T. Henry Wilson, Jr. Field.

The Rams improved to 22-26 overall, while the Wildcats fell to 24-23. Rhode Island pounded out 19 hits, led by Hopko’s 2-for-5 performance with two home runs and five RBIs. Danny Leikus went 4-for-5 with two RBIs, and Reece Moroney added four hits and two RBIs.

Davidson’s Anthony Torreso hit three solo homers and drove in five runs, going 3-for-5. Gavin Thomas homered for the Wildcats in the ninth.

Rhode Island starting pitcher Sam Houchens threw five innings, allowing no hits and one earned run while striking out seven. The Rams broke the game open with an 11-run eighth inning, highlighted by Hopko’s second homer, a three-run shot, and Ryan King’s solo blast.

Davidson’s Will Marenghi struck out six in 3 1/3 innings but took the loss. The Wildcats managed nine hits.
