DAVIDSON, N.C. (Interstat) — The Rhode Island Rams and the Davidson Wildcats meet again Saturday in an Atlantic 10 doubleheader at T. Henry Wilson, Jr. Field, one day after a 17-16 slugfest that saw 33 runs and seven home runs.

First pitch is scheduled for the afternoon, with the second game set for the evening. The forecast calls for 71 degrees and cloudy skies.

Rhode Island (21-26) looks to even the series after Friday’s loss. Third baseman Ryan King has been the Rams’ most consistent bat. In the series opener, King went 3-for-5 with two home runs and three RBIs. Over his last 10 games, he is hitting .452 with four homers and 10 RBIs, including a 4-for-4 performance April 26 at Saint Louis.

Davidson (24-22) counters with center fielder Jamie Daly, who had a monster game Friday: 5-for-6 with two homers and seven RBIs. Daly is 13-for-31 over his last seven games with three home runs and 12 RBIs.

The Wildcats hold a slight edge in the standings, but Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-5 Davidson win. Interstat’s ELO system gives Rhode Island a 51.20 percent probability of victory, suggesting a closely contested matchup.

Rhode Island’s pitching staff struggled Friday, allowing 16 runs on 17 hits, though reliever Connor Johnston threw 4.0 innings of one-run ball. Davidson’s bullpen also faltered, surrendering 17 runs.

The Rams split their most recent series against Fordham, taking two of three. Davidson dropped two of three at home to Richmond last weekend.

Saturday’s doubleheader is the second and third games of a four-game series. The teams conclude the set Sunday. Rhode Island next hosts Saint Joseph’s for a three-game series starting May 14. Davidson travels to VCU for a three-game set the same day.
