Hawaii at UC Davis
DAVIS, Calif. (Interstat) — The Hawaii Warriors and UC Davis Aggies open a three-game Big West series Friday evening at Dobbins Baseball Complex, with first pitch set under clear skies and 63-degree temperatures.
UC Davis (24-24) enters the contest on a six-game winning streak following a 3-1 victory over Sacramento State on Tuesday. The Aggies are coming off a convincing three-game sweep at Cal State Fullerton, outscoring the Titans 24-13 across the weekend.
Hawaii (15-16) arrives after a difficult series at Oregon State, losing three straight by a combined 21-6 margin, including a 3-1 defeat Sunday.
A player to watch for the Warriors is right-handed pitcher Brody Martin-Grudzielanek, who threw 6 1/3 innings of scoreless, one-hit ball in that loss to the Beavers, striking out four. However, he allowed five earned runs in one inning of relief against UCLA on April 21, highlighting a season of inconsistency.
UC Davis features a two-way threat in Braydon Wooldridge. The right-handed pitcher also contributes at the plate. Wooldridge threw four scoreless innings of relief in Tuesday’s win over Sacramento State, allowing five hits and striking out two. Offensively, he went 3-for-4 with an RBI in a 7-6 win at Fullerton on May 1.
The Interstat game simulator projects a 6-3 victory for UC Davis, which would extend the Aggies’ momentum.
The series continues Saturday and Sunday at Dobbins Baseball Complex.
