STELA NIAGARA, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series between Rider and Niagara concludes Sunday with an afternoon and evening doubleheader at Bobo Field.

The Broncs (23-15) and Purple Eagles (21-15-1) split the first two games of the set. Niagara won Friday’s opener 12-3. Saturday’s game ended with no score reported.

Sunday’s forecast calls for 48-degree temperatures and cloudy skies.

Rider right-hander PJ Craig (2-4, 5.89 ERA) is scheduled to start the first game for the Broncs. He has been inconsistent. Craig allowed five earned runs on no hits with six strikeouts in five innings in Friday’s loss. In his previous outing April 24 at Monmouth, he threw 5 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing no hits and striking out six in a 14-4 win.

Niagara outfielder Curtis McKay has been a key run producer. He went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs in Friday’s win. Over his last seven games, McKay has 13 RBIs and has hit safely in six of those contests.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-6 Niagara victory.

Both teams are jockeying for MAAC tournament positioning. Rider’s next 10 games include road trips to Rutgers and Quinnipiac before a home series against Saint Peter’s. Niagara faces Le Moyne at home Tuesday before traveling to Manhattan for a three-game set.

First pitch for Sunday’s opener is slated for 1 p.m. The second game will follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first.
