Evansville at Belmont

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Interstat) — The Evansville Purple Aces and Belmont Bruins will look to settle a split series in a soggy Sunday finale at Ken Dugan Field at Stephen Lee Marsh Stadium.

First pitch for the Missouri Valley Conference matchup is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, though evening rain with a game-time temperature of 67 degrees could impact play. The teams have traded blowouts, with Evansville winning 11-2 on Friday before Belmont responded with an 11-7 victory on Saturday.

Both teams enter with identical 14-win records overall, though Evansville sits at 14-22 and Belmont at 14-25. A Interstat game simulator projects an Evansville victory, 6-3.

The Purple Aces will look to outfielder Reid Haire to spark their offense. Haire homered and drove in three runs in Saturday’s loss and has three home runs in his last six games. For Belmont, right-hander Ridge Harvey will aim to replicate his dominant performance from Saturday, when he struck out 13 over seven scoreless innings to earn the win. It is unclear if he will be available out of the bullpen for the series finale.

In Saturday’s Belmont win, Brady Holbrook led the Bruins’ offense, going 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs.

Following Sunday’s game, Evansville travels to face Southern Indiana on Wednesday before a conference series at Indiana State. Belmont hits the road for a midweek game at Tennessee-Martin on Tuesday before a conference series at Valparaiso.
