Sun Devils Outlast Cougars in High-Scoring Big 12 Affair

PROVO, Utah (Interstat) — The Arizona State Sun Devils clinched a Big 12 series victory Saturday, outslugging the BYU Cougars 12-8 at Larry H. Miller Field.

Arizona State built a large early lead, then held off a persistent BYU rally. The Cougars scored six runs in the first three innings, highlighted by a three-run homer from Ezra McNaughton in the second and a solo shot from Luke Anderson in the first. The Sun Devils’ offense, however, produced 15 hits. Key contributions came from PJ Moutzouridis and Beckett Zavorek, who each had two RBIs, and Nu’u Contrades, who drove in three.

The Arizona State bullpen sealed the win, as Derek Schaefer, Colin Linder and Sean Fitzpatrick combined for five scoreless innings of relief. The Sun Devils improved to 28-13, while BYU fell to 20-18.
