Virginia Military Institute at Samford

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Interstat) — The Virginia Military Institute Keydets will look to salvage the finale of their Southern Conference series against the Samford Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon at Joe Lee Griffin Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, 2026, under clear skies with a game-time temperature of 81 degrees.

The Bulldogs (16-17) have taken the first two games of the series, winning 10-4 on Friday and 8-3 on Saturday. Samford right fielder Jake Souders has been a central figure in the victories, driving in seven runs over the two games, including a grand slam and five RBIs in Saturday’s win.

VMI (24-10), which entered the series with a strong overall record, will aim to stop the skid and avoid the sweep. A player to watch for the Keydets is Eli Tyndall, who started on the mound in Saturday’s loss. While he took the decision, Tyndall has been a key arm for VMI, including a five-inning, two-run outing in a win at East Tennessee State on March 29.

The series loss has tightened the conference standings, adding significance to Sunday’s matchup. According to Interstat’s game simulator, the finale projects to be a close one, with a predicted final score of VMI 7, Samford 6.

Following the game, VMI travels to face Norfolk State on Tuesday. Samford prepares for a visit from Mississippi State on Tuesday before hitting the road for a conference series at UNC Greensboro next weekend.
