Stanford Holds Off Louisville to Clinch ACC Series Split

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Interstat) — JJ Moran’s three-run homer in the ninth inning provided crucial insurance as Stanford defeated Louisville 6-4 on Sunday afternoon at Jim Patterson Stadium, splitting the four-game Atlantic Coast Conference series.

The Cardinal built an early six-run lead, scoring all their runs in the second inning. Louisville chipped away with two runs in the third, one in the fourth and another in the fifth. Stanford reliever Trevor Moore was pivotal, throwing four hitless innings with three strikeouts to stifle the rally. Louisville’s bullpen of Jack Brown and Ty Starke combined for 4 2/3 hitless innings to keep the game close.

Stanford improved to 16-16 overall. Louisville fell to 20-16.
