Hornets Rally Past Hawks for Rare Victory

LEIPSIC, Del. (Interstat) — Hassan Turner’s two-run single capped a four-run third inning as Delaware State rallied to defeat Maryland-Eastern Shore 5-4 on Friday afternoon at Soldier Field.

The Hornets, who entered with just two wins, erased an early three-run deficit. Julian Jimenez and Ansel Carson hit solo homers for the Hawks, who led 4-1. Delaware State responded in the third. Alec Rodriguez hit an RBI double, Caleb King drove in a run on a groundout, and Turner’s single to center scored Andrew Shute and Jaryn Sample for the decisive runs.

Both teams finished with 10 hits. The victory improved Delaware State to 3-26, while Maryland-Eastern Shore fell to 5-24. The Northeast Conference series continues Saturday.
