Stony Brook at Sacred Heart

Preview: Stony Brook Seawolves at Sacred Heart Pioneers

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Interstat) — Two teams looking to build momentum will meet Tuesday when the Stony Brook Seawolves visit the Sacred Heart Pioneers in a non-conference matchup at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

First pitch is scheduled for the evening. Game-time temperatures are forecast to be around 49 degrees with cloudy skies.

Both clubs enter with struggling overall records. Stony Brook (9-19) dropped two of three at home to UNC Wilmington last weekend, including an 8-6 loss on Saturday. Sacred Heart (7-17) is coming off a 4-3 road win at Manhattan on Saturday, powered by a key performance from catcher Kyle Cincinnati.

A player to watch for the Seawolves is reliever Ty Panariello. In his last outing Saturday, he provided three solid innings, allowing two hits and one earned run with two strikeouts. Over his last seven appearances, he has shown flashes of effectiveness mixed with inconsistency.

For the Pioneers, Cincinnati is the offensive catalyst. He delivered the decisive blow against Manhattan, going 2 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs. His production will be central to Sacred Heart’s hopes against a Stony Brook pitching staff.

The Seawolves have shown recent signs of life, having won series against Towson and Siena in late March before the UNC Wilmington set. Sacred Heart’s victory over Manhattan snapped a four-game skid.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Stony Brook 5, Sacred Heart 3.

Following this contest, Stony Brook begins a three-game series at Hofstra on Friday. Sacred Heart opens a Northeast Conference series at Iona on Friday.
