Williams’ Grand Slam Highlights Wake Forest’s Rout of Clemson
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Interstat) — Javar Williams hit a sixth-inning grand slam, his sixth homer of the season, to cap a nine-run inning and power Wake Forest to a 15-4 victory over Clemson in seven innings in Atlantic Coast Conference baseball Wednesday.
The Demon Deacons (21-9) erased an early 4-1 deficit, tying the game in the third before pulling away. Williams’ blast provided four of his game-high four RBIs. Matt Conte added two hits and three RBIs for Wake Forest, which collected 14 hits.
Clemson (19-11) scored four runs on eight hits, including a solo home run by Tryston McCladdie in the fifth. The Tigers’ bullpen, notably Noah Samol and Landon Fowler, provided scoreless relief, but the early damage was too great to overcome.
