Wright State at Cincinnati
CINCINNATI (Interstat) — The Cincinnati Bearcats, riding a strong 20-10 start, will host the in-state Wright State Raiders in a nonconference midweek matchup Tuesday at Marge Schott Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 75 degrees.
The Bearcats look to rebound after dropping two of three at home to Kansas, including a 13-6 loss on Sunday. Second baseman Jackson Smith was a bright spot in that defeat, going 2 for 4 with three RBIs. Over his last 10 games, Smith has driven in nine runs.
Wright State (11-13) arrives after a tough 10-7, 10-inning loss to Oakland on Sunday, which snapped a five-game winning streak. Shortstop Braylen Blomquist continued his hot hitting in that loss, notching two hits and two RBIs. Blomquist is 12 for 38 (.316) with two home runs and eight RBIs over his last 10 contests.
Cincinnati holds a distinct advantage in the season series, having won 12 of the last 13 meetings against the Raiders. The Bearcats’ offense has been potent, averaging over seven runs per game during their current homestand.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a close contest, favoring Cincinnati 7-6.
Following Tuesday’s game, Wright State begins a three-game series with Northern Kentucky on Thursday. Cincinnati opens a Big 12 Conference road series at Oklahoma State on Friday.
